We decided to shake things up a bit and travel to Va to be with Mikes family for Thanksgivning. In the four years we have been married, we have not once spent Thanksgiving with his family. Since this year our family is in quite a shambles, we decided to visit with Mikes family instead. It was a great choice! We drove up to Charlottesville on Friday afternoon the 18th and stopped in for the night at Mike's sisters house. We would have gone on to the mountian house but the heat does not stay on there and it would have been like 20 degrees when we got there and I didn't really want to go to sleep in that!
We made the trip fine until we turend onto the road Christine lives on. Michael had fallen asleep which was fine since it was almost 8pm. then all of a sudden he sat up and threw up everywhere! He has never thrown up before so I was quite shocked. I jumped into the backseat to jerk him out of his seat and try to clean him up a little and when I got back there, he threw up again!! I didn't realize he had eaten so much! I managed to get him out of his seat and get his clothes off and wrap him up in a clean blanket for the last 5 minutes of the ride. I felt so sorry for him because he was crying and since he had never thrown up before he didn't know what was going on! Anyway, we got inside and he sat on my lap for a while and then he was fine. He got on his pajamas and started playing with Allison and James and Christines two dogs. Kids just bounce back so fast!
We had a great dinner and great night with Christine and family. We got up the next day and stayed until after michaels nap and then we headed on up to Witnergreen to the mountain house. It was very cold!! Around 25 degrees when we got there around 4! We got a fire going and started to relax! We had 4 full days there alone before any of Mikes family came up! It was wonderful. We got up and walked on the golf course in the morning, then relaxed the rest of the day, just reading and talking. The next morning we had some snow! It was so nice since we don't get much snow down here. We have neer had snow at Thanksgiving that is for sure! We drove into Waynesboro and grabbed some lunch from a deli there. Back up the mountain and nap time! Michael had developed a bad cough and congestion so he was not sleeping well at night and hence neither were we! Eventually I had to call the doctor and he was able to call in an antibiotic (Michael had developed a fever again) to a small pharmacy not far from the house. Once he got that and some cough medicine he was sleeping fine!
Mikes parents and two of his niece and nephews got there on Tuesday night around 10:30. We were already in the bed and they were very quiet and went straight to bed. The next morning was great. Michael immediately started playing with Kelly and Timmy! They were so sweet to him!
Later Wed, Mikes sitster Christine came up with her family and we all had a great time! Everyone got a long fine and we had just the right number of people there! Not too crowded but just crowded enought to make it nice! Although I would have loved to see the rest of Mikes family! I will post some pictures of our holiday week along with this.
I hope everyone had as wonderful a holiday as we did and counted their many blessing on this day.
