Oh the Holidays

Well, The holiday season is upon us, although you couldn't tell it by the weather. It feels like we are living in Florida! I can't stand it! How can we have chestnuts roasting on an open fire when its 80 out? So hopefully we will be having a little cooler weather moving in.

I was sick all day yesterday, something I picked up from mom I think. Sore throat and just feeling like crapp in general. I took some Nyquil last night and I feel much better today. I am going to to the Dr tomorrow just in case though. We are leaving Friday at lunch time to go away for the holidays and I do not want to be sick over our trip.

We are going to Wintergreen VA to stay at Mikes parents mountain house for the Thanksgiving holiday. We will be there 4 days by ourselves and then his family will be coming on Wed. I am really looking forward to spending tme there just us. It will be a nice little mini vacation.

I'm glad we are spedning Thanksgiving with his family, it gets us out of the awkwardness of the coming holiday season, at least for a little while.

Not much else going on here. Just life. We are getting our basement finished, praise the Lord! We have it all painted, Mike and I did it ourselves. We have ordered the carpet and it should be going down the week we get back from Thanksgiving. Just in time to get Michaels toys moved down there and get our Christmas tree set up in our front room! Michael is really escited aobut having such a big playroom. We are going to mover our TV down there as well, shich will make for some really nice quite evenings during the busy holiday season.

We are having a dinner party here on the 9th and so far we have about 15 people coming! I can't wait. I love to get people together and Mike is going to do the cooking. A dinner party is so much easier than trying to do 6 or 7 appetizers and several little desserts and making sure it stays warm etc. We can have a set menu, with a set number of guests and it is much easier! Where they will all sit is another thing! We can sit 6 at our dining table, 4 at the kitchen table, 4 at a card table in the Christmas tree room and probably 4 more at a card table in the living room. That should be plenty and in close enough proximity to each other to carry on table to table conversation.

So, thats about it for now. I have to go and start gathering things for our long trip up the mountain, about 5 hours with a 2year old. He will need a lot of entertainment! I'm trying to get the laundry done and the house cleaned up so when we come back it will be all clean and I will just have to unload and do the laundry. although I am hoping to get it all done before we come home next Friday. We'll see. I am looking forward to the cooler weather and the snow!

Later for now.
