OK, OK!

OK, so I said I was going to keep my blog updated!! For some reason, life keeps getting in the way of this! Things have been so crazy over the last month. With school getting in full swing, there have been birthday parties (at the skating rink, more details on that later) PTA meetings, snacks to make for school, a sick child, a surgery, sick in laws, yada, yada, yada!

So my newest piece of fun is the new camera that Mike got me. It is not a super duper allstar camera but I love it! It is more than just a point and click camera and has lots of options, not to mention the card we got with it will hold approx. 30,000 pictures. Of course, who takes 30,000 pics before they upload their photos? Anyway, it is a FujiFilm FinePix S700. 7.1 Megapixels which is better than the one we previously had. Also, it takes great motion shots! And with 3 boys, thats pretty much all I get are motion shots, no one wants to sit still for a picture (insert groans, faces, etc) when I ask. I have really enjoyed using it and playing with all of the different settings. It also has a full manual mode where you can do all of the aperture settings, focusing, etc. I hope I can learn enough to eventually use those.

So, back to the party at the skating rink. Michael received an invitation in his back pack to a little boys party who is in his class. The invitation stated that it would be at the Roller Sports Skating Rink in Taylors. Now this is the same rink that I used to go to as a kid when we made the honor roll. Our school would give us a free pass and we would all go on the same night. So I'm thinking, this would be neat to take my kids to the same place I used to go. Of course in my mind I'm thinking they have updated the place in the last 20 years and it's probably a lot different than I remember. I don't drive by this place on any of my daily adventures mind you so I had no idea what had or had not been done to it. So, besides the fact that Michael does not know how to skate, I'm thinking this will be a good opportunity for me to meet the other moms, make the connections, feel them out etc. The party was scheduled to start at 12pm so we pull up promptly at 12 ( I do not like to be late) and go on in. As soon as we walk in the door, all of the memories come flooding back. Mainly because the place looked EXACTLY the same, and unfortunately, smelled exactly the same. Since I had no idea what this kid looked like or who his mom was we awkwardly stared at all of the people while Michael tried to recognize someone. He finally recognized a kid from his class, although not the birthday boy so we sat and talked to them for a while. Super nice mom, can't remember her name, but the kids name is Austin. I actually had sat with him when I went and had lunch with Michael the other week. So I talked with her for a bit, all the while remembering what it used to be like when I came; the couples skate, (which I'm sad to say I never participated in) the disco ball (still there) doing the Hokey Pokey ( and not being able to skate in a circle) making requests at the booth. It was all pretty interesting and did NOT in the least make me wish for my childhood back!! But all in all it was fun, we played a few arcade games, Michael did eventually put on skates and try it, and the party was pretty awesome! Oh and the music was from the 80's which made it all worth while!

Wow! How fun! And congrats on the new camera.

I can't imagine what it would be like to take my kids somewhere from my childhood. The little bit I get to take them home, time is so limited and we are trying to visit family, that we can't really get anywhere. So that is very special. Glad you could do that.

I am also glad that you updated. I have been wondering what was happening with all of you.

Have a great weekend!
